Police were called to the deadly shooting at Asian Best Chinese and Thai Cuisine Restaurant located at 15 North Penn Street in York City on Tuesday night shortly before 7 p.m., according to a release by the York County coroner's office and police.

The following evening the family that owns Asian Best announced the restaurant’s closure on Facebook.

“We would like to take this moment to express gratitude to all of our loyal customers throughout the years… Not only did we serve different generations, we have also had 3 different generations work to prepare the best quality food for everyone. We are truly a family business and very proud of it,” the post reads in part.

“Throughout the years, customer(s) have morphed into friends, some very close. We have had the pleasure of seeing your children grow up and have children of their own. Friendly handshakes turned into hugs when customers/friends stop by to grab some food.”

The shooting is the reason given for the closure.

The family first started serving delicious eats to the community at Chang Chow at 700 South Queen Street in York and then at Asian Best starting 2009.

The fatal shooting remains under investigation.
